Thought I'd bring my previous thread from (http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=114492&hl=) to here.... Yup, it's a rock wall...just waiting for a tumble...

The nanowave is now a quarrantine tank.

more to come....

Just got this piece....Local fish store says it hasn't eaten in two months.... Tonight, it ate like...a lot...

what do you think?

This one's been with me for a couple of years now. I've got a minor case of flat worms...so I siphon them up and feed them to the fungia...look mikey!!! He likes it! It also eats loose hammerhead tentacles! This thing eats just about anything...even pellets!

...and finally my recent addition....I like LPS.... can you tell?

I've got a monti cap at the top...it's totally welded itself to the adjacent rock. The pink birdsnest branches are getting thicker every day...although the bottom seems to be getting black...need to do some reasearch quick...

Looks nice. Did you change the stock bulbs?
redbrick
Thanks, it's a work in progress....

The bulbs are stock.

I don't know yet....I'm hoping in this new tank, Lefty and Righty (named after the break in white stripping) will leave the eggs alone. In the last tank, they ate them everytime at the 12th or 13th day. If they eat this batch, I'm going to try and use a mesh and rubberband the pot close on the next batch until they hatch. Then there's how to feed the babies/fry....I heard it's very diffricult. I read they eat a lot of rotifers?????

Joyce Wilkerson wrote a good book on clownfish. Covers raising fry pretty well. Nice tank.

your tank looked very clean!
congrats on the clowns laying eggs~

My corals all lost their colors!!! Monti is now brown, hammerheads are pale. Polyps all fully extended though. I don't understand. Searched RC and some folks also have the same problems.... parameters have been the same since January.... LPS are all still eating very well. birdsnest does not seem to be affected at all...in fact it's starting to really get pink! Monti is still growing...but color is gone!!! The sand has is starting to clump into hard chunks of rocks... mushrooms are still multiplying...but they've also lost their colors. I don't understand....

Clowns ate their last batch of eggs. Second batch has been laid... I'm thinking maybe I need to get a larger pot. She seemed to get pregnant almost right after she lays her eggs. Is it possible for clowns to maintain two clutches of eggs at the same time?

Any suggestions on the color lost? mellow.gif

lights.

Is it too much light? I run the lights from 12:30pm to 9:30pm.

Or is it the type? Its a wavepoint 36" (~three months old.)

Thanks....

SWEETLOU
ive seen this tank with the wavepoint and it did just fine. i got a six bulb on mine i havent seen a problem.
i run my lights from 11 to 7 then moon lights from 7 to midnight

Yeah, I'm not sure it's the lights as well.. I've scanned all over R/C and no one there has anything conclusive as well. The corals are all still growing though...just the colors.... mellow.gif

These are what I maintain daily....with 2 part and daily testing (ELOS)

9-10dkh, Mag 1350, Ca 425-450, 8.01-8.3ph... very typical numbers.

Nah not yet....guess I'll give him a call this weekend. Yeah...no one on R/C has definitively figured it out yet....

Now I've got several large patches of rock hard sand....it's like the sand is soaking up and competing with my LPS on calcium....

Just curious, how much calcium are you dumping into the tank? How much evaporation? What about ph/dKH balance? I've been dumping almost a cup of 2 part calcium mix everyday just to keep the levels and sift a mid high teaspoon of baked baking soda every morning..... I add nearly 1 gallon of fresh water every evening....this tank is crazy.... It requires soo much maintanence.....

The skimmer (IN-80) is nice...but goes nuts everytime I touch the water too long....wierd...I really don't know how this skimmer works....I mean it's dialed in and pulls the nastiest green/brown slimy stuff I've ever smelled... How do you like it so far?

i dose every two days i use the 2 part esv cal and alk. 15-30ml on the cal. evap i top off through the day but all together i dump in about 6 cups of ro water a day. yeah the skimmer with stop skimming if you mess around in the tank too much but if you just leave it alone it will start working correctly by itself. but if you wanna hook up sometime we could check it out or whatever
