On my road to research I'm trying to see which is more commonly used and who's getting great results with them. I've searched and read on both and of course brightwells topics are more current, but seachems topics are mainly 1-3 years old.
-Real popular brightwell products seem to be coral amino, koralcolor, liquid reef, microbacter7 and the zooplanktos food.
-Real popular seachem products seem to be reef plus, reef complete, reef builder, stability and their calcium products.
What products do you dose with? Any pics on how it improved your tank? Ohhh yes and I understand the salt you use can offset this causing one to dose more or less. I guess what salt you use is another good question??

I use all brightwell products, including their salt (not sure if im happy with it yet, my bucket tests lower than anyone elses tests i see)..
CoralAmino, im still waiting on results from only been a few weeks, koralcolor didnt show any improvement for me. Microbacter7 is great stuff, and so is zooplanktos foods.

Well, for Brightwell I use 2 part dosing, Vitamarine C, and Carbon. For Seachem I use Prime water conditioner, and Stability biological supplement. The rest is Kent marine and Instant Ocean.

I've used a lot of both, i used to get free stuff from the sales rep when i worked at an LFS. my preference is seachem additives for ca, mg, alk, I, etc (seem to need less) and brightwell for coral foods and vitamins. the vitamins, amino acids and garlic for fish food additives are AWESOME too--we noticed a huge difference in fish health and color (and our fish were always perfectly healthy before) when we started soaking frozen food in the VitamarinM, VitamarinC, MaxAmino, and Garlic Power. Doesn't take much of each, so a bottle of each should last you several months to a year. if you had to pick 2 out of that list i would definitely choose VitamarinM and Garlic Power--for some reason their garlic worked a little better in convincing finicky fish to eat than seachem garlic guard.
saltwise i still use seachem, but have heard good things about brightwell. i'll probably stick with seachem though because it mixes up closer to my preferred water chemistry.
and i would just stay away from Kent outright.

awesome, here's the link to anyone who wants to read it too:
http://setrs.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=clj5j...&topic=19.0i haven't done a thorough writeup like him, but i can say that over the period i used MB7, my water had gone from slightly yellow-tinged to crystal CLEAR, and all my algae went away.

+1 on seachem aquavitro fuel, I dose the recommended amount in my ATO water. I have made other changes since I started so I can't say for certain what is causing it but in the last month my SPS have started coloring up and growing+encrusting and the soft corals are going nuts. I have yet to notice any nuisance algae growth yet and it has been about 6 weeks since I started.
I was skeptical of dosing vitamins/amino acids since I feed the tank a variety of meaty vitamin-enriched foods already but I was having problems with my SPS colors under LEDs and read a lot of people saying that dosing helps and my results seem to back that up.

Thx mew. Are you also running a skimmer? That article was awesome for those who's run skimmers and/or vodka dose.

i had the same question but got the seachem cuz it was about $5 rather then the brightwell which was $15...
on paper the seachem doesnt seem to have a lot of anything in it.
been dosing for 3 days now. the only difference i see is that at least one of my SPS are a lot "hairier" with extended polyps. they didnt extend that long before and i had them for weeks.
i just have to remember to dose consistantly.

I use mb7 and works great brightwell is really good he was the lead chemist for kent and what ever happened he left them and started his own company (Brightwell) and I'm sure wanting to out do his former company he did a incredible job making some great stuff. And I would have to say almost all of brightwell's stuff is great.
