Anyone know anything about scoly frags? that would be the only way one would be attainable for me, and i know some people have fragged em and wonder how long it takes for em to round out and shiz.

The flesh takes a few months to form a circle, but its skeleton takes a lot longer. I don't see anyone fragging scolys for a shop or anything. It's ok for a couple of friends to share expenses and chop one in half, but they will need to be patient at least where the skeleton is concerned. Good news is that the mouth doesnt take long to reform, so it will be very willing to eat within a week or two.

I bet a scoly cut in 4 would becaome a circle again quicker.
I've heard of people using artificial scoly half skeletons. Or even cutting 2 scolys and putting different colored halves together.

Yeah you can do that, I actually thought about gluing two different halves together, but decided to see how long it would take to grow a 1/2 into a full circle. The flesh is a circle, it just doesnt grow skeleton nearly as quickly. Maybe If I cut some rock into a flat plate, and built a ramp with epoxy, who knows..

tile saw is fine but maker sure you only cut the skeleton, and finish it off with a fresh scalpel or razor blade

I think mr.coral had a scoly frag for like $80, that why I was wondering. Thats the only store I've seen them in. hmm maybe I should just get a fungia since price and size would probably be better, and then i could have a whole uncut one.

Scoly frags are tricky to make but if you can find a healthy one then it should be good. It will easily take about a year to reform most of the skeleton though, which is why I've never gone near them.
