So I've decided to do a built in DIY refugium in my 10 gallon and I have 1 question:

I bought the acrylic sheets to do the fuge and the only ones I found are clear. Since I want to keep my refugium light on 24/7, I wanted to paint the refugium walls black so that light doesn't bleed into the display area. Can I use Rustoleum and wait till it dries or do I really have to find black plexiglass? Although I don't think the paint will affect anything once it's dried, a friend started debating me saying it will kill everything in the tank. Would really appreciate your input on this one. Thanks.

Krylon fusion. Let dry for a week to be safe. I've painted two frag racks, and have had no issues.

"Cure" not "dry". Krylon isn't a typical spray paint, which is why it's $$.

do reverse light cycle, chaeto needs downtime also.

Thanks for the input, guys. why krylon fusion, why won't another paint work?

so you're saying turn on the fuge light when the main light is off?
Mr. Fosi
Another paint may work, but Krylon Fusion has a great track record here on NR.com. A rep for use both in and out of the tank.

yeah reverse of your normal lighting.
My fuge light comes on 1 minute before my display lights go off, and then turns off one minute after my display lights come on.
