Hello,

This is my 75 gallon frag tank. I like to DIY and a lot of this is something I've built.

DIY Herbie style overflow (1" drains) with 2 glass panes siliconed in the corner. BM100 skimmer. 2x 175W Reeflux 12k on magnetic ballasts in Lumenbright pendants in my DIY cradle/hanging kit. 30 gallon sump with gatorade bottle DIY GFO reactor running off the overflow. Refugium with 23W 6700K CFL over chaeto and a couple live rocks. 2x modded tunze 6025, 1xK2. Rio 10HF return.

2x Percula clowns
1x Blackcap basslet
Various shrimp, crabs and snails.

I've been battling green hair algae for the longest time and finally I took some steps to eradicate it.

First, I changed my RO/DI filters.
Secondly, I've begun running GFO in the sump in my DIY gatorade botle reactor running off the overflow.
Third, I've been changing water like a madman.
Fourth, took out my sump, removed all the rocks and chaeto, redid it and replaced it all.
Fifth, took all my frags and a toothbrush and began to remove as much algae as I could.
Sixth, I replaced the old shelves with new ones (with my original shelf barricades so I am not continually looking for frags behind the rocks).
Seventh, I cleaned my skimmer, pumps, lights, ATO reservoir.
Eighth, I sat down and watched the superbowl.

If I can do anything else to prevent the return of the GHA, please advise me. Some of the SPS has browned a bit but this is exacerbated by the bad white balance. I also ordered some new MH bulbs that will replace the current Reeflux 12k 175W SE.

Thanks. I know that the lumenbrights can be placed higher. However I found that I lit up the room more than the corals that way. I also put some lower light corals in the less well-lit areas and found that they grow better than directly under the light.

I'm not a big fan of having my water racing through my sump. I use powerheads as water movement as they use much less electricity and I still cycle my aquarium 5x through my sump every hour (as the pump runs about 300-400gph at that head. Plenty for chaeto and for my skimmer to digest.

Thanks for the compliments.
