Im currently Chemi-pure elite and matrix carbon, but Iv noticed some hair algae so im ordering some phosban. Any other recommendations for me? Also, what do you run?

Could I get seachem Phosguard rather than Phosban?

I think Chemi-Pure Elite has phosban (more or less) in it, thus its the Elite. smile.gif

Personally I run Chemi Pure Elite and Purigen. My nano has only been up a little while with it, but I've been very pleased so far. Purigen is quite amazing stuff, really, and if you get it online, you can get A LOT of it for cheap. I can get enough to do probably 300g of tanks for $20 from AquaCave. You do have to buy your own media bags for it, but those are like $2 a piece or you can just use nylon stockings I believe. smile.gif

Really and truly, the best thing to do for algae is get rid of the source of nutrients. In my case, I have some algae and a little bit of cyano and I'm thinking it actually may be my rock as it is "used" rock that I know the guy just pulled the plug on his tank and let everything sit for like 4 months... not so good.

But anyway, I like Purigen and Chemi-Pure Elite together.

You could also look at the Bulk Reef Supply media reactor. Its like $50, is powered by an MJ 1200, and has two separate reactors (more or less) built into it. They sell a couple of varieties of GFO and carbon that you can use in them, too.

I also use Chemi-Pure Elite, Purigen and pillow stuffing lol. I dont have much of an algae problem. Except for that dang green dust algae on the glass of the tank. But the two medias together seem to work really well for me.

Agreed- Chemipure elite and purigen and floss. I shake them up every week or so just to keep them mixed and the water is getting the best exposure. I change the floss every 3 days or so.

Im curious... Is there any particular way to stack them in the media cage?
Im only running floss at the moment happy.gif
NeveSSL
I know you want the floss first as it will catch crap that you can then remove before it gets stuck and breaks down in the other stuff. Other than that, I'm not sure that it matters. smile.gif

I have just good ol' carbon. No chemipure elite for me, as some believe it causes PM in clams.
ReeferFL
Chemipure + Purigen + Sponge that gets rinsed once a week.

PM in clams?

Clams get private messages? wink.gif

Seriously, what's PM?
