So I picked this up to replace my 55G FW. And I have been getting things goin on it. i built a sump, had a lid made, painted...still have some more to paint.
I am going to drill it, I am getting a 36 inch MH T5 LED light to hang over it........
So here is the start of the project...

Make room for the sump...

Some paint..

I was reading a thread some where and the guy painted the back like this, used led's behind it to give the tank more depth so I figure I will try it.

My all Glass sump, done by me!

And my custom 1/4 inch tempered lid.

Discuss......

Looks interesting. Can't wait to see how it works out.

6 pics is heavy? Get some sand, rocks, etc in there and snap a buttload of pictures and post them here!

Corner tanks are cool. I used to have a 54 corner RR.

I'd be careful getting that long of a light, a 24" will be plenty and fit over the tank better. A 36" t5/mh combo light is pretty wide and won't fit very far into a corner. I used a 24" PC/MH over my 54 corner.

Working on it!
As far as the light, because the sump hangs out the back it will not be flush against the walls, so I think the 36 will work o.k. If not I'll sell it and get a 24'

bought a light.....it's a 36" 150 MH T5 LED combo......

Little big, another member was looking to upgrade so I'm trading for his similar 24" fixture.
Comin along, I think I'm going to move my 45Tall to this setup. My live rock hookup is getting out and is going to give me an Icecap ballast...AquaCremora skimmer and more stuff too.... Going to use what I can on this build.
24nanoguy
Shipped the light out to for a trade with cbort for a 24" fixture. So when I get that I will get serious about this tank. My 55 fresh is goin bye, bye. And the 37 is going........!!!

Your tank is starting out like mine. In the garage lol.

Very interesting my wife and I are starting our first nem tank, the one we had originally started 4 years ago before she found out about coral.I really want to try an Odyssey 250w and then upgrade to an icecap ballast, but the 150 with t5s should be plenty. Anyway I will be interested in the buildout keep us posted

Any updates?

Well not much progress, I got my light, finished painting. Still need to buy the overflow from Gl#######s.com
Then I'll get serious....just been low on funds.
24nanoguy
It's painted and in the room. Still need alot of work to hang light, plumbing, drill the tank....bla, bla.

Might have to put it on hold though, my dog broke his leg today and it's going to be $2500 to fix him.....
But......I'm sooo ready to set it up. I ordered the overflow kit, return pump, maxi jet powerhead conv deal. Getting the skimmer together, sumps in, I have all the tubing, need to get pvc for piping, and cable to hang the light. Now I'm moving..... happy.gif
24nanoguy
I'll get going on this tomorrow, I got my pump, overflow kit, waiting on new actenics for the fixture. Got the wire and hanging stuff for the light. So I just need to get off my duff and start it.
24nanoguy
Time for an update.....
After much consideration, and gathering all the stuff I finally decided to put it together.... Wasn't really going to, but yeah....here it is.

It's a Gl#######s 700gph overflow kit, I drilled it myself. A Rio pump...2100 I think. Still have to figure out a light for the sump, and skimmer....but there ya go.... Comment please.

Love corner tanks. This will be my next tank. Looking good so far. Good call on the tempered top, learned that one the hard way. What direction are you going wit this one?

Yes the top has also cut evap down to almost nil.. Very nice not having to top off everyday. The rock will change, I might still take down my 45 and put it in this tank.
But this will end up being my show tank I think, high end zoo's, ect.
rocko52286
Cool. Do you find it difficult to work with the depth of the tank? It is 21 inches right?

I'm not sure of the depth....but 21" sounds about right. Not at all, nothing like my 45Tall. Can't do anything in that tank with out a stool to stand on. Lol
It's weird looking into it because the glass is curved so much...kindof distorts your view.
24nanoguy
Uuuggg.... having an actuall cycle sucks..... This tank I don't have any of my kickstart rock or sand in.....
Poooo.... mad.gif
24nanoguy
So first fish............. Black Ice Clown pair. Or a S'more pair........

37 gallons (according to site consensus) is nano, 40 Gallons is the limit. I forget the lower limits, 5 gallons sounds about end of nano and beginning of pico-nuts.

EDIT: Grammar

Get all technical and stuff... O.k. so 37 gallons PLUS a 10 gallon sump. There....happy now? So roughly 47 gallons, should I go change the thread title?
LOL......
