Trying to decide between the two and was wondering if you camera gurus can help point me in the right direction for a point and shoot camera. I can get either camera for 279.00, so lets not take price into consideration. Looking for features and best photo quality. All comments are appreciated.

I would get the sd980is, better aperture range (F2.8 – F5.9 vs F3.2 – F5.7) and longer flash range (6.5M vs 3.5), wider lens (24 mm vs 37 mm) The model is also 6 months newer.

The LCD is not as good on the sd980is but i believe it takes better picture.

went with swedereefer's opinion and my cousins who shoots for sports illustrated. Said for the money, you cant beat the 980is. On its way!
