I have to agree with the suggestions to use RAW. Incredible control through the temp. slider. Thanks for the tip.

Could I ask a few of you experts to post an example shot, and the temp you used? Or is this a function of the lights used to take the shot as well?
Basically, I wish I could see a shot I like, and pull up the meta-data to see the settings that were used to create it. ISO, f, WB etc. I "understand", but putting it together is a bit daunting.

Thanks,

Michael

i am confused..you can..just switch on the camera to display the shot settings with the thumbnail as well. The images also tell you all the metadata once you copy to PC if you right click and get properties. I stick with AWB for 99% of the time and just adjust it after.

Ahhh, let me clarify. I can certainly see MY metadata, and I would like to see it for some of the impressive shots I see in the gallery etc. I think I could learn a lot this way. For a simple example, I was thinking I would need to have f/32 because of the recommendation in the tutorial post (Lalani's photos), then I was told that over f/8 was unnecessary.

temp 4500K, ISO400, 1/6sec, f/8 under moonlight with fill flash.

oh..you wanna see other peoples..i thought you were talking you wanted to see yours.
thats a hard one to answer..No shot is going to be the same..what worked for one person might not work very well for the next. Its more of a trial and error till you find what setting works best for your situation. Thats the nice part with DSLR..take as many pics as you want and just delete till you learn what works. Not like film that you have to hope you get it right.
Yea if your doing a full tank shot or even a standard shot up f8 would be the max I would go..Now if you are doing macro shooting with a macro lens then I would push it to f11 or f13..I really dont think I have ever shot over f13. I cant see the need to ever go to f32 unless you are sitting on the sun trying to block out enough light.
