So I'm putting eggcrate over my solana (couldnt find birdnetting. And Im noticing the light transmission has drastically been cut. Any comments on this? Would I still be able to keep SPS at the mid level of my tank?

It doesn't make it very pleasing to view either :/ atleast I think I can see a difference

thats going to be a lot of light loss. Did you check online for netting? Where are you located?

This stuff is even better than bird netting.. Cheap too. It's worth it, and the guy ships it out really quick.

Yea I PMed him earlier and he wouldn't tell me the supplier.

Lol, why not just buy it from him?
SpankythePyro
I just wanted to know where he got it seeing if he would be shady or not lol
Rick Shaw
Seriously? It would be under $10 and you're worried about getting ripped off?

I was gonna send ya some free (you pay shipping of course) but never mind, I dont want you to worry about getting ripped off on shipping.
SpankythePyro
Not worried about getting ripped off lol, it would cost more than $10 to buy a roll of the material if I could find it locally. I'm worried about the material being the actual material.

go to your nearby hardware store.. they will ahve some.. or if you have a solana you could prob find some plexiglass cover or make one yourself from plexiglass from the hardware store
Nemo Niblets
It's definitely real. And works great. If he tells you, he's probably afraid you'll tell everybody else. I personally can't find any small pieces, only bulk rolls.
SpankythePyro
Yea I figured thats why and I know he is just trying to recoup some of the money he spent, which I would do too. I just like to know what ANYTHING touching/near my reef tank is.

I won't do acrylic, its a pita lol even though I have a recessed table saw to cut it. I went to home depot and they didnt have any bird netting/nylon other than screens

Well the screens should work better than eggcrate?
SpankythePyro
Not the ones I saw at HD, they were the small window screening. Did see any 1/4"
Rick Shaw
eggcrate and window screen are no good so go buy from guy with the clear stuff.

Just buy the ones acroholic sells. I just got it and installed it on friday. Got it within three days. It is much better than what they sell at Home Depot or Lowes. If you must insist on getting it yourself, you can get the bird netting at Lowes in their garden section. It's black but it's like 1/2" or 3/4". If you are trying to prevent fish from jumping thru, then good luck. They will get thru no matter how many layers of screen you stack up. You'll never get consistent size holes. Just look at that other link jackaninny posted. You can see some holes are larger than others. I did the same thing and my Blue Spotted Jawfish jump thru twice! Luckily, I was there the first time as soon as he jumped and the second time I was not there but was able to save him after being on the carpet for god knows how long. The clear ones are 1/4" all the way across. Anyway, I think you are sweating it too much. Just look at all the satisfied members on his thread.
