I was peering into a sale tank at my LFS today and noticed an odd pattern in the sand. It didn't look like the current would have been able to make such a trail in the sand. I didn't think much of it. BUT while i was peering an employee walked up and asked me if I had seen the "walking coral."

Sure enough a coral had made that trail in the sand. I was very curious (relax I didn't buy it because I had never even heard of the thing, much less it's care requirements) so I did a google search.

Check it out

(yes there is already a thread for this on nr, i just wanted to share my little personal discover and maybe inform a few others as well)

There are a ton of them for sale on divers den, well at least last time I looked.

yeah, cool but kinda ugly imo.

They may not be gorgeous, but they move around! That's gotta count for something

They look cool. But personally I think corals that move would just cause havoc in my tank. I like things to stay put.

+1 to stuff staying put! If you want a coral that moves around, just glue some zoas to a hermit shell!

Hey Guys, I bought one from LiveAquaria about two weeks ago. They are really cool. I simply threw it in the bottom and it moved around a little at night. The most I have seen it move was about 8 inches in one night which was on the second night. One of my biggest concerns was how far it moves and if it will be a pain...turns out not at all!!! The last week it hasn’t moved more than 2 inches or so. They are really pretty when they are open, mine is a bright green. He stays open all day and is super easy to target feed. It is one of my favorite pieces in my 29 gallon reef tank. Easy to take care of!

How absolutly interesting! I would try to get one if they weren't so expensive.
