yea i know lol im just getting impatient. diatoms are attacking this tank like crazy so some time this week i think ill start acquiring a CUC ill start with just a few margaritas and a few astrea for now and slowly build it as necessary

i was thinking about it but i want to build the CUC slowly overtime and the shipping would kill me even though they are in FL too

sweet i just did a late night sweep with my flashlight to see what would move and i saw a little porcelain crab that is MAYBE all of 3/8in wide including the legs. i was hoping id get atleast one of these guys now the next thing for me to do is try to get it out of the tank and into the aquapod where it will be safe

yea and now that i know they are there i look at that rock more and see them alot now

just picked up 20 astrea snails. i was gonna get some nassarius too but they didnt have any. they didnt even have a spot for them weird

gonna be picking up 3 blue/green chromis today to keep the tank cycled and add some movement to it till i can get the final inhabitants

i got 3 blue-green chromis they are floating in the tank while im acclimating them but i got one pic of them floating. more pics to come later tonight or tomorrow cause i have to fill the tank up still cause i used water from it to fill up my contest tank

ok i released them into the tank and they promptly disappeared into the rocks. i will update with more pics of them once the tank is full and the chromis are more outgoing

i finally got a good pic of them but they are chromis so they dont stay still lol

i caught a largish xanthid crab on a piece of rock so im keeping him in the betta bowl in the tank till i can setup a mantis tank and then catch the mantis i hear in the tank. he will be the mantis' first meal lol

i know it wont look any different than the last one because ive been having alot of problems with my pipework that im making. the glue hasnt been holding and things have been falling apart

You still need a FTS whether the tank is empty for 10 weeks or it is full in 1 day.

Ha sorry about that..I noticed it in the macro in my 10g...it came from the person I got the macro from a while back and since it stayed I left it alone sorry about that.

U can just pick the piece of macro it is attached to off.

yea but i like the piece of macro its on lol. i might just pull that bundle out and just pull the aptasia off with a few strands of the macro. infact ill go try that right now


and its no problem this is actually the first aptasia ive ever had lol.


edit: worked like a charm now lets see how well aptasia likes chlorinated FW lol. i dropped it in the toilet n im gonna leave it there for a few hrs before flushing it. that way its good and dead when it hits the sewer

It was really small when I first got it...it grew kinda large in my 10g...wish I was more awake when I cut that pice off, I would have kept it

its no problem it was easy for me to get to because it was right on the top of that flat rock so i just pulled the whole wad out found out where it was attached and just tore that section of macro out n went and dropped it in the toilet. i dare an aptasia to survive chlorinated FW lol

well its been a long time since ive updated this thread so heres an update.

i think a combination of the bad crabs(some of which have gotten pretty large) and the mantis in the tank ate the 3 chromis and along with most of the snails in the tank. my good lfs closed its doors about 10mon back so i havnt been able to find a good price or selection on snails since but i just found 2 more lfs in the area so im probably gonna check them out today and pick up some more snails and look for a top on the tank because water evaporates out of this thing at an incredible rate and i can barely keep up with the top offs.


so thats about all. oohh yea the macro has taken off pretty well and is filling in im still in the market for more though

i have a couple expensive hobbies and after spending a ton of money on this one i had to ignore the aquarium forums for awhile so i could spend money on my other hobby(my mustangs) because if i spend time on aquarium forums im bound to spend alot of money on my fish hobby and ignore my speed addiction. that and work has been kicking my butt so i havnt been spending much time on any forums mostly just relaxing in the AC after working out in the FL heat.


i know about reefcleaners.org and their prices are great i just need to find another LFS like my old one cause he gave me free crabs and snails all the time lol. that and shopping online kills the fun of spending alot of time exploring the lfs lol.

yea especially since before when i was frequenting this board it was singlular mustang i just recently bought another one that will become a race car but for now im gonna finish fixing it and daily drive it. so after i fix it ill start frequenting more often because i have spent well over 2k on my cars in the last 6mon.

i found an HOB fuge on another site that i am buying it is a CPR aquafuge size large which will just barely fit on the back of my tank with my HOB skimmer which is perfect lol.

im still looking for a good light though i found a 4x96w PC light on CL for $75 but it doenst have legs or bulbs so i would end up spending another $135 for bulbs and legs

just found a Current Sundial T-5 36" 4x39w fixture on craigslist that i was able to talk down to $150 with bulbs that are only 6mon old. i will be picking it up next weekend
