Awesome link. I'm going to have to try that one.

Friend gave me a Lowepro CompuDaypack today, hardly used. It's a nice bag, list price is $100. Looks like it will be useful as a carry-on to combine camera and laptop. But, it's really too big for short day hikes where I wouldn't be taking a laptop. Any recommendations for a nice bag either sling or backpack that would be better? Lowepro Slingshot 100 AW caught my eye.

Not a great picture, but an amazing opportunity when I actually had a camera on hand:

I guess I'll comment on the tilt shift photo, because frankly I don't understand all the hype behind it.

I'm under the impression that it's supposed to make things seem surreal and model-like. However the photo doesn't do that. It just looks like something is wrong with your lens. What disturbs me the most is the cutoff occurs in the middle of the people on the right. I think this photo would probably look better left untouched. The blur just kills it, in my eyes.

Though I love fad photography (HDR, light painting), I don't think that's a proper tilt-shift.

However, it's all my opinion, but I'd like to hear what you think!

I'll have to disagree. I think the Tiltshift is pretty cool looking - not something everybody would appreciate but fun to play with. Also, I use a lowepro backpack - it works really well for me.

Was it really a wild dog, or a poorly groomed mut runaway? tongue.gif Cool opportunity though. I saw 30-some turkeys behind a highway patrol substation last week. 5 of the turkeys were big ol' "toms" and they were all ruffled up.

TS is so much more than the stupid "miniatures" people make. A TS lens allows you to eliminate converging lines in your photos (useful for architecture) and place the focus plane anywhere you want within your photo.

Yeah, I saw that and thought it was cool. I was telling my family that it wasn't miniatures, and it was tilt-shift, and they didn't believe me. tongue.gif I finally convinced them when I started explaining how it manipulated the focal pane, moving it to whatever angle relative you want to.
