Full Version: How would you split this monti frag?

I've never fragged a monti before and I'm wondering how to do this the right way, it is a pretty decent sized frag that is shaped like a tiny mountain and I'm hoping to split it in two for sharing purposes.

Do I take a dremel and cut the top off or split it in half down the middle? Do I take some big wire cutters/dykes and try to snap off a decent sized piece? Does it even really matter healing wise?

Pic is from the day I got it a couple weeks ago, the scuffing on some of the ridges has since healed and it has grown a bit too.

i would let it grow some more. Let it plate out a little bit and you will be able to break a little piece off. I just did it on accident to my reverse sunset monti.

Let it grow out more. You can place it in a rock with a hole for the plug and let it encrust or plate for easy frags.

My Undata is a fast grower shouldn't take more than a few weeks.

Fair enough, I'll hold off until it grows something that looks easy to remove. Thanks smile.gif

Whatever you do, IMO using big cutters is the best, a dremel tends the burn the tissue and cause more damage then good, to both the frag and mother.
