so close badfish, she laid even sooner than expected. She laid last night (jan14th) between 7 and 8:30pm

The male ate about 30 eggs before the female could get in gear. Then she started laying and teaching the male. Her actions indicated that she was showing him to mouth the eggs and not eat them. She also did fake fertilization runs over the eggs and the male repeated the actions. It was pretty neat to watch her teach or attempt to teach the male. I'll get the youtube video up later tonight or tomorrow

Quick update: only about 25-35 eggs remain. Im sure they will eat the first few batches anyway. Our little male with a learners permit seems to be learning but every now and then forgets and eats another few eggs. 9 more days and we will see how the second batch goes

im sure he will figure out that he isnt supposed to eat the eggs sooner or later lol

there's about 10 eggs left so they all should be gone by tomorrow

a couple more batches and then ill raise them. Right now is data collection time. What cycle the clowns are on, at x temperature how many days does it take for the eggs to hatch, are the eggs fertile etc...

sounds like alot of work goes into breeding clowns and i commend you for doing the work to bring us such awesome looking fish

thanks, i actually counted the eggs today and there is still 23 eggs left. I should know by tomorrow if the eggs are fertile or not. They should start to show eyes inside the eggs. If we see eyes then we are fertile

nice so is it normal to have fertile eggs after only 2 spawns?

depends on the age of the male. I have had a couple males that couldnt fertilize at all and they were 2 years old. My male is 13 months old. It has been said that a male will be sexually mature at 6 months old but i think its closer to a year

upon closer inspections the eggs are developing eyes which means the male is fertile. Just for the hell of it ill try and raise the 20 or so babies if they are left

ok the eggs will hatch either thursday (day 7) or friday (day 8)

im going to pull them tonight, no yolk sack is visible so they should hatch

ok the eggs are in the hatching tank. Upon closer examination most of the eggs are infertile but there is about 15 fertile. Ill update in the morning if they hatch or not.

no hatch and they did not fungus over so hopefully they will hatch tonight. I added new pots to the tank and the female and male are cleaning again WOOT!!!

only took 10 days this time. New batch of eggs and i hatched out 12 babies from the previous batch. Pics soon to come

heres the new pics...eggs are a little tighter but i was not home when they laid so i didnt see how the male acted this time and to see if he fertilized
