couple babies have head stripes of the 4. Only 20 hatched out of the new batch and the rest fungused over. Im not sure why but im sure the eggs are hatching on 2 nights. Ill have to just let a few hatch out on the 8th night and on the 9th night let the majority hatch
this pair is the trickiest pair i have ever owned. Why cant they be a normal hatching pair like my others....

got the clowns into the breeding setup today about 6pm........i check up on them about 7:30 to see how they are doing and they are laying eggs again. Most females absorb their eggs if there is a stress or environmental change, but not this female. The male fertilized and all is well right now. Pics to come tomorrow evening.

new batch will be hatching 4/2/10. I did a bit of reading and confirmed that too much shellfish in their diet will make the egg membrane hard restricting the fry to hatch and if they do hatch pieces of egg capsule will stay attached to their head and will kill them. Needless to say i changed up the diet to include 70% veggie and 30% meats and misc.

so i went on a grouper charter friday, had been awake fishing since 1pm thursday. Totally forgot clowns were hatching friday night. Anyway long story short i woke up at 4 am this morning turned off the lights and woke up about 11am this morning and all the clowns hatched into the tank. So i forgot about them. Also good news is that every clown hatched which is excellent

anyway back to the clowns they still havent laid eggs since the transfer and still havent seen any spectacular patterning. There is some ok patterns but not picture worthy. Pistol pete is starting to get mean and turn onyx so thats a plus

looks like they are doing great and its good to see more and more successfull batches
and i have been gone for awhile because my new job has been exhausting me and killing my time online that and working on my car on the weekends(nothing wrong for the most part just performance parts) so that means almsot no time at all online
and on that note if you see a white and black mustang that is rediculously loud that would be me lol. dont worry you cant miss it youll hear it coming from 2-3miles away and no im not kidding its that loud lmao

yes that would be true a majority will be normal patterns and then picassos will be the next majority with platinums being the biggest minority. this is because of genetic because the normal pattern is a dominant gene(we will call it D) and picassos are recessive(we will call it r) gene. ok now lets say you have 2 clowns breeding whose genes are Dr and Dr. you will have 25% be DD 50% Dr(for the most part normal looking with maybe a small imperfection in stripage) and 25% rr(picasso). so you will have 75% of the fish looking normal for the most part and only 25% of the fish having picasso style traits. now platinum's are extreme picasso's so they have other genes that are also recessive that are all lined up to eliminate almost all of the orange and make the white the majority so you will have an even smaller percentage because of those 25% that are picassos you have other traits that all need to be recessive which will bring the percentage of platinum's down to a very small number.
