As a result of several trips to Belize, I decided to atempt a Caribbean biotope aquarium. Unfortunately, stony corals are not available, so I had to substitute Pacific species; however, everything else is Caribbean.

Great tank! I have done lots of diving in Bonaire, and love the Caribbean gorgonians!

Where did you get them? Online? Local collection?

Thanks!

Here's some of the zoas, sponges, macroalgae and especially the gorgonians. I have 3 species of purple photosynthetic gorgonians. They really remind me of some of our locals trees in bloom when there polyps are out, and they are really purple when the polyps are closed.

Great tank!! Have been thinking of turning my Aquapod into a Caribbean biotope - your tank makes me think it's a good idea after all!
Jamie

Here's a couple more photos of some new additions as well as some stuff that's been in there for a while. The dendros are new and, like the other stony corals, are not Caribbean. The gorgonian frag shows good new growth.

the dendros actually can be found here along with other similar corals although they are not thought to be native but to have come as hitchhikers on the bottom of ships.

Here,s a couple more. The brain, acro and caps have all started growing, and the small cap in the second pic has already attached to the rock. True to form, they are growing very fast.

good to know. I knew Tubastea auria is found in the Caribbean but I haven't heard of any Dendros there. Thanks, that makes me feel better about adding them.

Click to view attachmentAdded a couple of new pics tonight. The macroalgae is growing quite well. I even have Udotia growing in here now. It started several months after I started the tank and, as with all the algaes, it was not intentionally added. It just popped up. Even my very shy pair of golden banded coral shrimp decided to come out tonight. The Dendros are doing well, but require the most care of all the corals. They open quite well unless neglected. If I miss feeding them for a couple of days, they close up tight and need to be coaxed to open up again.

Here's a couple more.
