I bought my live rock from www.vividaquariums.com. The rock was perfect! I asked them if they could pick out rock that wouldn't be too big for nano. They perfectly picked out good rock and when it came it was amazing. Lots of life. No bad lfie just sponges, feather dusters, algaes, and others.

There rock is awesome!

Are you looking for Live rock or base rock?

If live rock, I would suggest:

http://sealifeinc.net/catalog/product_info...?products_id=31

The price is great for what you get, it is amazing rock. I have some really nice rock from sealifeinc, and it looks just as good as the sample photo. They will even cure it for you if you ask - an awesome service that is free of charge.

If you need base rock, I suggest:

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/produc...m-eco-rock.html

I used 80 lbs of this rock in my 55g and seeded it with LR from sealifeinc.

Weeber, there was a review on that website in the vendor feedback area where someone got shorted by 40 pounds on live rock. Ordered 100, got 60.

I wouldnt recommend them or aquacon
OClownsandNanos
Is this for a brand new or established tank? I just set up my tank a week ago with live rock from Premium Aquatics - 20 lbs Bali Alor - and "dry" rock from BulkReefSupply as mentioned above, specifically the Pukani, 25 lbs. Both had awesome shapes and are very light and porous. I couldn't even fit all the Pukani in my 40 breeder.

Would recommend the above two places without hesitation - at the seven day mark I am pretty far along in my cycle (diatoms showing on the sand today) and my ammonia has never gone beyond 1 and that is with 15% water changes at most daily. Premium Aquatics definitely has really fresh live rock.

whoever started this other thread probably works for a competitor. My family runs Just Live Rock at www.JustLiveRock.com and can assure you this guy probably wrote this post with bad intent or if he was a real customer wrote this hastily before he got his second box the next day. We never ship more than 60 to 75 lbs of dry rock in one box because it would destroy the box. If he ordered 100 lbs of dry rock it must have come in two boxes. It would never come in one. And if he had called to tell me, which he did not, that the second box did not arrive we certainly would have shipped it. And we have nothing to due with Aquacon. That is a separate company and in no way, shape, or form has anything to do JustLiveRock.com or with my family ever. We only sell live rock and dry rock. We run a real live rock aquacuture operation licensed by the state of florida and are on the up and up. Sometimes long periods of rough weather can hamper supply but the live rock is always shipped and if someone can't wait they always got a refund. Dry rock is always in stock. You people are screwing with other families livelihoods and should be ashamed of yourselves!

From what I'm reading from that review they did not know to expect it in two shipments on different days and that they DID try to contact you . Also not trying to run your company or anything but it is generally bad business to call your customers morons on public forums lol.

I'll second that notion. If you are a startup company, needing new customer influx, the correct way in MY opinion to have gone about this incident would have been much different. You need to show that you are apologetic, and offered to talk about the problem in private terms. Calling a member of one of the more "influential" reef-keeping forums out as such is bad form. It is also more damaging to your business to have done this, than to have one person claim a bad experience. I understand the need to defend yourself, and your livelihood, but your response and accusations were out of line. You may have lost a lot more than one potential customer after this. Again, JMHO. sleep.gif

Family member of LR.com Your a business, and you should try to make sure you handle comments professionally. A lot of people on NR recommend or don't based on experiences of what they read.

“You people are screwing with other families livelihoods and should be ashamed of yourselves!"

A simple, "We are reaching out to the original poster to see if we can rectify the matter" would be understandable.

I ran across this because I am researching your company to buy some LR.

Agreed, I've kinda getting turned off from this company... I don't think I'll be considering once my 40g is up this summer

Although its is most interesting that there is 2 posts about this company by new members recently...

We ordered from justliverock.com on Dec.30,2009...actually my son did, with his Christmas money. Just verified with my bank they (justliverock) rcvd the funds on Jan.10,2010. We still have never rcvd the order. The bank is investigating the company !! This is after several attempts to contact them by phone, leaving messages. One time they responded via email that was on or around Jan.10,2010 stating they were very sorry and would ship our order immediately adding additional rock at no charge. Well here we sit Jan.20,2010 and never a word or pkg since. My son will get his money back either by the bank or this bogus company, but really when I saw this post I had to say it.... And who should be ashamed, Taking from a child...how dare you !!!!!

+1, I have more coralline colors in my brand-new tank than most people do in tanks a few years old.

If you don't mind a ton of hitchhikers, it's awesome stuff. I think getting 25lb of sand and 25lb of rock shipped by southwest airlines was $60. I got premium coralline and deco, but if i had to do it again i'd just get the premium coralline @2.99.

If you want the best TRUE Live Rock. You need to check out www.tampabaysaltwater.com . I have got over 50lbs from them and had no die off. But you need to be prepared to have some hitchhikers as the rock is live. The other suppliers mentioned may be good but my experience with Richard at TBS has been nothing but great.

The rocks in my avatar are from Tampa Bay Saltwater. They were great.

I just ordered 25 pounds from AquariumArts and should be getting it Tuesday or Weds based on the weather. I'll post lots of pics.

After reading this thread about 2 weeks ago, I decided to order from www.gulf-view.com

I must say I am SO HAPPY. Dale is a stand up guy and sent me top notch rock that is beautiful and teaming with life. Incredible deal and awesome service.

Anyone who is near a major airport or within a 50-100 dollar drive of one should definitely order from there. I only bought his cheap stuff too because I was going to have the rock out of water for ~32 hours from the time he took it out of the water to my tank. His primo stuff, and a great price is probably off the charts.

Regards,

Brandon

i have ordered and will order again from tampabaysaltwater. he has some of the best shipping methods for live rock i have seen. he bags the rock in water so the rock is always submerged throughout the whole shipping time which is always airport to airport(or in my case drive to his house and pick it up lol) so that it gets there as fast as possible. there are tons of hitch hikers though both good and bad. i have several bad crabs but also got a rock with 6+ porcelain crabs and tons of feather dusters all on the same rock along with a small pistol shrimp running around somewhere

I purchased some live rock from justliverock.com about 3 weeks ago. After about week and a half of wondering where my live rock was i contacted the company and was told it was being shipped out and i would get it by monday (that just passed). Then i recieved an email from the guy (that was cc'd to about 25 other people) apologizing for the delays saying we all should get our tracking number by the end of the day. I got my tracking number and it said i would get my rock by this coming thursday. Then i started getting reply emails from people in the cc'd list, stating their problems. One person recieved their rock and attached a pic to my email..
this is what she ordered:

This is what she got:

I'm really hoping i'm not as unfortunate as she was.. but i'm really starting to regret not ordering from liveaquaria. Not only would have i had my rock in my tank for 2 weeks already, but i'm 100% positive i would have had no problems with the quality of the rock.

SeaLifeInc.com

Mine was uncured and came completely full of color and life. I can't say enough about the quality of their stuff.. they literally pull it out of the ocean (harvest) and send. If you would like to see how mine came look here
http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...rismi&st=20

I'm in Michigan, so I was very pleased. When it arrived, it was 15 degrees out, and I had very little die off with a careful soft cycle.

As for that rock above... get your money back dude, that's just a waste.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience in getting live rock off of the net. Reputible sites?

I "thought" that I've purchased (at a good price) 100 lbs of LR and another 50 lbs of live sand. After multiple emials and phone calls with no replies I've concluded that this website is a big scam. I've checked their address and found out it is in a very small building on a relatively busy street. I actually have passed by that address multiple times without ever noticing their place. The JustLiveRock address is 1539 Washington Avenue. I was about to buy the Deco Sandwich at 1361 Washington Ave and never noticed them. If they've have a boat a 31' boat the it must be some miles away. When I've asked them about their Florida license to harvest those rocks; they never replied.
My bank is getting my money back. My lawyer is checking their website credentials. His intent is to close them out so that they would NEVER again scam people off their money.
Buyers beware!
Degener8
Glad someone has the resources to attempt this atleast. There is far to many people that have been scammed by him. Me included unfortunately.

this is a great thread as I am currently shopping live rock. Seems the money place to live is Florida as all of the online LR places are located there. Anyone know of any good sources on the West coast, maybe Southern Cali? Also, there seems to be a lot of LR used on Craigslist and forums. Is it best to get "new" rock or even good base Marco rock as it's the most porous?
Oceanus
You can get it off craigslist, but check check check for pests. Marco Rocks is great!

sup fellas/ladies,

i appreciate the feedback/reviews from those who posted. i read this thread looking to get more info on live rock - specifically dry rock. i'm starting a sw build and plan to stock a bc29. i live in canada, and am looking for a good reputable seller. i believe in paying for quality, and am not afraid of purchasing online.

can any fellow canadians recommend a good place for dry rock?

thanks everyone,

beijo

Bigals has great rock, and prices. depending on where you are in canada.

Ecoliverock.org is a canadian site that has aquacultured rock and they do free shipping over $70. its $2.8/lb over 100lbs. great for big reefs that want to mix aquacultured w/ wild LR.

I'm placing an order for 40lbs next week. Premium Aquatics is my rock provider of choice. I've used them for 10 years of reef supplies and can only remember 2 problem orders. However, they are beyond helpful in correcting any errors or issues. Love those guys! Plus I live close enough so that shipping time is only 1 day for ground! biggrin.gif

To be honest I just got my order or rock and I wasn't as impressed as I was from the rock at marcorocks. Though John at reefcleaners has AMAZING customer service. The rock from marco contained very unique pieces. Oh well it's still great rock either way.
