Full Version: How long do fresh cut frag take to open fully?

well i just fragged up some zoas and put them on plugs and are in my frag tank......the problem is that some polyps are open and some aren't

is this normal for a couple of days??

water chem is

SG 1.025

ph 8.2

ammonia 0

nitrite 0

nitrate 0

calcium 460

mag- 1270

dkh - 8

phosphate 0

it's a 20 high with a 96 watt T5HO (4 bulb) setup


again are they just pissed from being cut up of am i missing something??

Some frags, if abused, can take up to 2 weeks to re-open....


That said, my frags ALL open within a few hours of cutting....
But, I goss hands like a surgeon, son!!!!


EDIT: put all new frags on the sandbed until properly healed!

I agree w/ primso, but will add that you should give your corals a good couple weeks to heal no matter what after fragging them.

i've heard vitamin c helps them too... just dont get the kind with sodium cause it'll raise your salinity
