Ok, so I treated my many little aiptasia about 5 times over the course of a couple months with Joes Juice. Well, they returned each time a few days later looking none the worse for their wear. So my question is.....Is the Aiptasia X or the Blue Life Aiptasia Control any better, or are they crap too? Thanks! Jerod

I got rid of mine (Only 1!) by getting it to pull in and then globbing KrazyGlue over the entire area he was in....no more aiptasia, no nasty chemotherapy in the tank and after a few weeks it covered with coralline and was un-noticeable.....

I've been dealing with a big aiptasia breakout, you should research Berghia Nudibranch.

These things eat nothing but aiptasia...

Bristle-Tailed Filefish. Miracle Workers. Seriously. And they will not hurt any corals.

I'd look into some Berghia..

If its not too bad you could always fix up some kalk paste.

I just boil half a cup of RO water in my microwave, fill up a 5ml syringe and then quickly put it down in the tank and inject it into the retracted aiptasia over a 5 second period. That way it doesn't have some mild chemical attack that it may or may not recover from, it is cooked through and won't be coming back.

So the hot water kills them?

Here is a quote from another board on these file fish...

I have three of them. What specifically do you want to know about them?

For starters, they ate all of my bristle worms and brittle stars and did a number on my shrimp. I haven't seen them mess with snails or hermit crabs. I've seen them pick at zoos but not any of my gorgs, leathers or other polyps.

You think these would be ok in a 34 gallon Solana Nano Reef tank?
I have a Yellow Watchman Goby, Clown Fish, Blue/Green Chromis...along with some crabs and snails and two peppermint shrimp. I read they would probably get the shrimp, but everything else seem ok?

boiling water in a syringe does work, i've done it several times in my tank. Once the aptasia retreats keep injecting it so all of it is killed.

Where do you buy your syringes?

I ordered some berghia this past week and they've been in my tank since Thursday, haven't really noticed a difference yet but I think it's to soon to tell, I'll let everyone know how it goes in time.

I've gotten syringes from my vet, a pharmacy, and my dentist in the past, you only need a blunt one for this (no needle) so you won't get bad looks or anything.

My favorite one for aiptasia is one from my dentist that they give to people who just had wisdom teeth extractions, it has a thin, curved tip on it that is easier to get into rock crevices (or tooth sockets) with. It is a Monoject #412 syringe and they are cheap on ebay if you would rather order one.

Try walgreens or the likes of and you'll find this.

Works great and so does the boiling water trick. Its cheap and no toxins in the tank. good luck

I believe Aiptasia-X works better than Joe's Juice.

Peppermint shrimp are also another good fighter. I had a filefish once but he was also eating my corals and I never saw him touch the aiptasia.

Berghia are expensive and they only eat aiptasia. If they can't find any they will die. If they leave one in your tank they'll come back.

It's usually a never ending battle. I won't see one for several months and then spot one. Keep your Nitrates down and that will help reduce the chances of an outbreak.

I am really interested in Berghia, but none of the local fish stores sell them & it feels like rip-off to pay $40, to ship a couple of nudibranches. Did these work out for you?

Aiptaisa-X worked for me
brizhound
+1 Aptasia-X....simple too use and I haven't seen any side effects..

I've had success with .5ml lemon juice, but i used a needle and managed to stick it in the little ####er before it retreated. I'm going to try the boiling water thing.

If you have to get the joe's juice or aiptasia-x in the darn thing just use lemon juice, but i'd try the hot water first.
pimp4cheddar
I've used an entire bottle of Aiptasia X and to no avail...they simply eat a mouth full and then come back in 3 days...just as big if not bigger.

I'm waiting to buy a few Pep Shrimp to clean them off!!!
beyondcomp251
I boiled lemon juice and then syringed those buggers.....never came back
roccov12345
Added one peppermint shrimp to my tank and he had the 15 aiptasias cleaned up in 4 days.

kalk paste always works for me smile.gif just make sure to turn off power heads!
