I am settimg up a 20L gal frag tank, and I was wondering what people think about having a sand bed or is it better to have a BB? Looking to frag zoa's, LPS and some easy SPS. The system has a 15 gal DIY sump. Lighting to be determined.

Thanks,
Stephen

go with BB and live rock in the sump only. the display only have the racks and pumps.

Having done many different options, I'd suggest BB.

If you want some of the benefits of a sand bed, then run a RDSB.

You don't want sand in a frag tank as it can really limit your options for getting good flow in there, best to leave that for a partitioned sump or refugium...

Thanks for all the info!

I am not a professional by any means and I started with a small frag tank that had sand. After about six months I got rid of the sand for the reasons listed above. It is better to work without sand IMO especially if it is a dedicated frag tank. Good luck.
