stupid question.....if i use live sand, cured rock rubble and water from my display tank I shouldn't worry about a cycle if i'm using the tank strictly as a frag tank at first right???

i mean the water testing will tell the tale obviously but just had to ask

Hi, are you asking about a QT or are you making a frag tank and calling it a QT? QT tanks should not have any LS or LR as they can harbor pests. If you need to treat whatever is in a QT tank it may kill off what's in LS ad LR.

MY QT tank is set up when I find something on a piece of coral I've purchased or when I'm not sure about something I've purchased. It's a 5 gallon eclipse. I use cycled water from my main tank and a HOB filter for QT. Then I just add 5 gallons of newly mixed water back into my display.

JanVa's right, frag tank & QT tank should usually be completely separate.

Perhaps this is a QT tank for incoming frags?
