i have a breeded pair of onyx clowns that i am breeding and hears the deal:
my clowns looked fine before i left on a week trip and then i come back to this.
the male is swimming fine and eatin fine and every once in a while he wil stop swimming and shake a bunch.
the female is looking the worst... she is swimming on her side kind of... her dorsal fin is tucked in her mouth is opened really wide and she wont eat. they havent been breeding for 2 batches and the batch before was very weak. i did a large water change and checked the water quality and it was fine and her discription does match any of the diseases... i have no clue whats goin on please help
they are in their own 20 long with a basic cuc and nothing else... when i last checked everything was in check
ammonia: zero
nitrate: zero
nitrite: zero
ph: 8.2

i am running a k nano. about 10 pounds of live rock and 20 of livesand and a penguin filter. they have been breeding now for about 8 months but the first couple batches werent surviving so right now i only have about 80 babies. they are all fine. there was also a huge algae outbreak while i was away on vacation that i came home to it looked to me like diatoms but im not sure. i hope thats enough to come up with some thoughts

Sounds normal, maybe the female will not let him host her area. Is he hosting anything?
cameron1
no thats probably what it is they are in a tank all by themselves with nothing to host and they kind off "host" a pot thats in there

One pair of mine host the out puts, even though they have a perfectly good GBTA. A flower pot should be fine. Besides swimming the current no other problems? If that is all everything is probably good as long as your parameters are good. smile.gif

yep they are al at zero and ph at 8.2 and if u read the begining the female was kind of laying on her side with her mouth open not eating but now she is and her fins are up
