Hello, everyone. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with a "bottom-dwelling" fish trying to come up to the surface to eat but gets nudged out of the way by another fish or two? This is happening with my goby. Is there any method I should use when feeding to avoid this? Also, what does everyone recommend for food? Thanks a ton.

Thank you for the reply, Nanobuds. Again, let me stress that I am very new to all of this, but could you point me in the direction of where to obtain that food? What store(s) and exactly what do I need to look for? Thanks a ton!!

most local fish stores will have them. online vendors dont usually sell teh frozen food... mostley because it may melt. even basic stores like petco or petsmart usually carry frozen brine shrimp and frozen mysis shrimp

Great. Thank you for the help. I will stop by the petstore on my way home tonight and see what they carry. Just a standard - if there is such a thing - turkey baster? Thanks!

^+1 Exactly! Works like a charm. YWG is about the easiest goby to get to eat prepared foods.

i prefer a syringe, its easier to use in my opinion.

you cold try cyclopeeze too. i turn the return off and feed cyclops and a little bit of mysis and my YWG just sits in his spot in the sand and waits for it to come to him. my snow's aren't big enough yet to be bullies yet to mess with him

I trained mine to to take a sinking pellet from a long, slender and hollow acrylic tube I drop the pellets down. I get as may kinds of pellets I can, both veggie and carnivore type. You can also squirt frozen/thawed through it with an ear wax syringe or like item.
The watchman and also the pistol that it lives with both come to the end of the tube and wait for the pellets to drop though. I can place it right where the opening is to their tunnel.
I do this at the same time I feed the upper dwelling fish so they are distracted.
Sometimes the watchman and shrimp catch what I feed the others, so they get a more rounded diet when all is done.
