I got one of these a couple weeks ago. They are very well put together and work just fine. fast shipping to! smile.gif

Alright thanks i really didn't want to pay 100 for a 100 gpd one i only need liek 10 gpd max.

Down the line you'll wish you had spent a little more. You do get what you pay for with these. Sure it'll get you 0 TDS water, but for how long? I got a Water General RO/DI a few years ago, and I had 0 TDS water for 12 months straight before I had to replace anything in it. I doubt you'll get that long out of this unit. Plus it's completely verticle which is never a good thing. True the Airwaterice Mighty Mite is all verticle too, but they use quality brand name filters and membrane in it. If Purewaterclub won't tell you what brand membrane is used, then chances are it's probably some Chinese made knock-off membrane that will be lucky to last 2 years if not less. I'm going on 3 years with Water General's GE/Osmonics brand membrane, it's about equal with a DOW Filmtec 75gpd membrane.

Just trying to help save you more cost down the road with this unit. Yes it'll work great at first, but it'll cost more as time goes on with replacements and such. Water is definitely something you don't want to go cheap on in this hobby.
fraggerdude27
As i go down the road can't i just replace the membrane?
disaster999
yeah you can. were just saying if your going to replace everything so soon, why not get a quality unit to begin with which will last you a while.

but if your on a tight budget, that unit will work. just monitor your tds and replace when you see a rise
fraggerdude27
What do i replace in it if the tds rises.

How do i get the water into the ro unit from a 5 gallon bucket into a 5 gallon bucket?

u would start by replacing the di resin when the tds rises.

u dont get the water from a 5g bucket to another 5g bucket. the unit must be hooked up to a faucet or hose or hard plumbed. look at ur link and at the bottom it shows the ways to hook the unit up.

u may want to look into the air water ice mighty might.
fraggerdude27
How do i time it to shut off at a 5g bucket.

You get what you pay for with RO and RO/DI systems.
The biggest problem with what you are looking at is it uses small non standard replacement filters and has a less than desirable DI filter.
You will find the replacement filters will be harder to find, will cost more to replace, will need replacing more often since they are smaller thus lower capacity, will only come in limited micron ranges most of which are not suitable for a reef quality system, and just plain don't work as well. DI will require replacing more often since it does not hold as much as a full size 20 oz vertical DI and will not filter as well due to its horizontal configuration and smaller amount of DI resin.

It also does not come with a TDS meter or pressure gauge both of which you will need to even tell if its working or not and to help determine when to replace the prefilter, carbon and DI resin.

I would pass myself and save a few more bucks for a true reef quality system like found here for $149.

Notice it uses full size filters in low micron ranges for better protection of the ROI membrane and has a vertical 20 oz DI. It also includes a dual inline TDS meter, pressure gauge, 90 GPD membrane so it makes water much faster so less waiting around for water and it uses a custom blended DI resin designed specifically for our needs. You don't see things like the capillary tube type flow restrictor which can be trimmed for your specific water conditions and the fact the membranes are tested for quality not shipped dry like others but those things alone can be worth the price difference.
fraggerdude27
alright
Phixion
All the filters can be replaced seperately... DI resin about every 6 months depending on your tap water quality, and membrane rejection rate. The pre filter and/or carbon filters about every year or so depending on how much water you make. Membrane about every 2 years...
fraggerdude27
Is there any ro/di for 130 that would be a good price.

would this work http://www.purewaterclub.com/

Spend a little more and get the Spectrapure ProPlus AZDesertRat linked. I'll link it again for you, it's the $149 Unit on this page.

fraggerdude27
I like that but i also like this one my friend showed my this http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/75-gpd...omy-system.html. I can add a tds meter and whatever i need but i jsut need a basic ro/di for some security.
Scott Riemer
Nothing against BRS, but I'm telling you, that in my opinion, in the long run, you are way better off buying the Spectrapure to begin with. You will end up spending more than you save by buying a "economy" unit.

You're cheating yourself over an extra $20.
fraggerdude27
Alright i think i will get the spectra pure.
Warehouse41Ant
Yeah man, if you're willing to spend 130, spend 150 and get what everyone is recommending. I don't have my own unit yet, but when I do, it'll be the Spectrapure because it's so highly rated and recommended by everyone here.

This is THE most important piece of equipment you will buy (lighting is a close second, but has a great range of "acceptability". Spend the extra 20 bucks and don't go out drinking tonight. It'll pay for itself in the long run (by saving you money in filters).

Edit: was a bit late there...good decision smile.gif
fraggerdude27
Since thats why my other tanks failed no ro/di i have been reading and thats bad and my dsb. This one has everything with it. I can get this as i am now going to make my own led fixture so i can buy a little a time.
