So, I've finally gotten to the point where I'm ready to set up my first reef tank. I've done a good deal of reading and searching but I've run into what is probably an age-old internal debate here: which tank to buy. And I'm down to a few familiar options: the Oceanic BioCube 29, and the JBJ Nano Cube 28 (the other options don't strike my fancy).

Here's the twist on the classic debate, though: I want a tank with upgraded LED lights right off the bat. That means I'm really considering the Nano Cube LED model versus the BioCube + Nanotuners LED kit. If you factor in the stands, they come out to nearly the same price.

Aesthetically, I like both units. I don't like the look of the "contemporary" stand that comes with the NC (haven't seen it in person, just pics), so unless the pictures are really not doing it justice, I'd probably end up replacing it. I do, however, really like the look of the BC stand (which I have seen in person).

I've read a number of the threads, polls, debates, etc... on the differences between the lot, and it looks like the base models are very comparable. Each has their pros and cons, each has their supporters, and each has a number of modifications and upgrades that can be done.

Now, I know that the NC LED model isn't actually out yet, and the BC LED kit is brand new, but I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light (no pun intended) on the anticipated differences between the two?

You know, I wanted to go with the BioCube, but the local store never seemed to have it in stock and I got tired of waiting..in the end I scored an AquaPod12g, and so far I love it... but given the options youve made available to yourself, I've heard nothing but good things about the BioCube... keep in mind I am a NOOB myself..so just my $.02

My Bio-Cube 14g and stand work great. I'd vote BC.
