not sure about the tunze, but id recommend the vortech mp40w or at least the mp20. I have an mp20 and i crank it up to the max which probably is not the best. Id rathers to minimum mp40 then cranked up mp20. if you get mp10 maybe 2 so one on each side. but mp20 at least you can always upgrade.

tunze hands down for longevity & customer service.
i have a vortech in my nano now.. it's great when it's "working" .. when theres something wrong the CS is sketchy. i paid $275 shipped for my vortech mp20, the magnet is rusting, it locks up periodically (sometimes it takes a easy clean and it runs again.. sometimes it takes several hours to get it to work w/o locking up)
i got fed up one day bc i didn't have the time to tinker to get it to work again. so i ran the koralia for a few days. keep in mind i've only had the mp20 for like 6 months. i remember having to ship a brand new vortech mp40 back to them for service. it was a additional $18 added to the cost of the pump.

Go minimum MP20 for a 40 breeder. I say if you want a nice clean look go vortech but if you want some huge pump in your tank go tunze

i own both...but, i must say Tunze's CS is hands down one of the best if not the best...never any questions asked just resolutions...can't say the same for Ecotech yet...
