how big is your tank? If its a big tank and a little fish then you may never see him (the body) again.

Check behind the tank and on the floor...Both of my clowns are very social. Typically coming to the front to greet me (and try to get me to feed them). I've heard they can be jumpers though...Sorry to say, he's probably not there.

The fish looked fine at the store, that was the first thing i checked was around the tank to see if he jumped out but no sign of him.

i say he jumped, i just got a pair of picassos and the male jumped ship, lucky i got to him in time and got him back in the tank, but like everyone said, clownfish dont hide, they do jump though, once in a blue moon

How much rock do you have in the tank? Some fish really seem to put some effort in finding a secure place to hide, and with a 56g there should be no shortage of such places if it has a lot of rock...
Door #2 would be to check the filters, pipes, powerheads, anything of that sort. Several times when I thought the fish was gone(sometimes more than a week) I've found them stuck in the back of a filter.
Door #3, do you by any chance have a cat, or an indoor dog? Occasionally I've caught Mrs. Phoebe running off with a tailfin sticking out of her mouth. Weather loaches seem to be her favorite...

ive came to the conclusion that hes dead now,i havent seen him in a few days.i do have a cat but the door was shut the whole night i was sleeping, and he didnt jump cause i looked all around the tank.i just think he died and either my cbs or nassarius snails ate him.
