Hey all you maxima lovers and you know who you are, here is an article on the Tuamotu Maximas. These clams are simply breathtaking with colors and patterns I have not seen. Plus a lot of these that are offered for sale are "super-sized"! Often in the 5" to 7+" sizes! Here is an article from reef-builders with pics:

You know, I've always wondered how those taste...

probably very expensive =( I ate a Tang (I BELIEVE it was a tang) off the coast of vietnam before. Caught a bunch of goby in vietnam also, looked nothing like the ones available here... very bright and awesome color!

I just got an opportunity to see 6 of these babies. I don't think any of them were under 6". Absolutely awesome looking AND HUGE clams. The guy I know with them has them on sale for a really good price too.

I'm thinking about getting one, just waiting to pull the trigger....have to really think about an investment like that

you'll be alot better off if you can find someone locally who is selling them, i paid waaay less that what live aquaria is selling them for.

Well the size is one of the reasons I got it! Its a Show Clam for sure....I love it! You also can tell from the pic but it also has pink streaks on it and it looks amazing!

One of my LFS has a few of them in stock right now for $159 each. They are HUGE!! If my 70g was more mature, I would have bought one by now.
