Hello, this will be my first saltwater tank.I got my self a 29 gallon and I am wondering what I should use to light it? I am not looking to have hard coral just soft.I also want to keep it as cheap as possible. Also is there any DIY light fixtures?

Thank You

You could do a retrofit 24" T5HO if you get yourself a canopy or diy one, I plan on upgrading my 20H soon and a 29 is most likely what I'm going to go with what I just suggested for you.

Thanks both of you two questions 1) how much does it cost to make a LED light setup? 2) i have a 30 inch standard light socket that was used for fresh water can i use it for anything?

1. A lot more expensive than a T5 setup

2. No. It's most likely T8, and they aren't really used for reef purposes.
