My ten is 20" long. Will the 18" Nova legs go that far out?

Yes, but I would go with the 24in

An 18" Nova won't fit a 20" tank. You would need to make supports to span the tank for the light to fit. But I do agree that a 24" fixture would be a better choice, just due to bulb selection.

Not doubting you evil, but do you know for sure? I figured with the legs it would, but googled it and read both yes it'll fit and no it wont so I'm hoping to find out for sure from some one that has one and can measure with the legs to the ends or has tried.

The Novas use the same mounting legs as the Satellites. They really don't extend out much past the end of the fixture (at least it doesn't on the Satellites that I have used). I guess the only way to guarantee it is for someone here to be nice enough to take some measurements.

what i did with mine was brought them in and hav then sitting on the inner rim

I have a similiar dimension tank, and own the 24" nova extreme.. I would just go with this if you have a choice, it doesn't over hand much and like others said the bulb selection is better.

I checked out your build and the light looks good, but a 24" might be better. I'll have to think it over a bit. I don't want hang over, but I could always use the 24" latter on for other tanks.

Consider the 18" Nova info confirmed - just got one for my 10g QT tank, and the legs come up about 1" - 1 1/2" short of the outer edge....

Since it's not a display tank for me, I have it placed directly on the versa-top for now until i figure out how to make my own legs for it....

I use a 18" nova fixture with a led sup light. The 18" fixture with legs extended fits a 10 gallon rectangle like a glove... I wish I would have used the 24" just for the bulbs
