last night i was up visiting my family and when i came home this afternoon, the pump on my 8g BC had malfunctioned somehow and was spewing billions of tiny air bubbles into my tank. the water level was too low in the 3rd chamber with the pump, due to perhaps a clog which i believe i have fixed. at any rate, i don't know how long it was doing this for, i was gone for about 14 hours, and my corals are real agitated and sliming my water. i have a clownfish and my CUC, the clown was stressing also. i did an emergency 1 gallon water change and changed my filter floss. is the long-term slime from my angry hammer and zoas going to axe everything in my tank, or am i okay? thanks, sorry if this is a paranoid/retarded question. i hope i will soon be able to post a question on here without a stupidity disclaimer, haha. thanks everybody!

My red sea max has done this before, however non of my corals got angry. Are you certain nothing else happened? Has your temp gone up/down during this time?

I do know when I frag my sps they will slime up pretty bad but within an hour or so they are back to normal.

no ATO, i removed the blue sponge filter that was in front of my pump and rinsed it out, though it wasn't particularly clogged, and changed the filter floss, which was really dirty, i admit. that may have been disrupting the flow from chamber 2 to chamber 3. i did a top-off about 2 days before, my level hadn't noticeably dropped. i assume it was just the disrupted flow.



my heater had no signs of disruption, i'm pretty sure it held solid. my params are all normal.

in a biocube the only way to tell if it needs to be topped off is by looking in your 3rd chamber. I have to top off about once a day to keep it from spewing as yours did. And in all likely-hood your tank was probably bubbling for the majority of time that you were gone...thats been my luck with it atleast. The exact same thing has happened to me several times when i first got my tank, just make sure you check the water level in chamber 3 atleast once a day and top off if needed. Your corals should be fine again tomorrow

dont worry about it. recently got some SPS frags and they slimmed up pretty good in my tank. i just left them alone and eventually everything was fine.
