Has anyone seen this happen before? Is this normal? Is there anything that I can do to remove them or prevent them from happening?

Thanks.
pismo_reefer
theyre "exhaling" Oxygen....

like a tree does.
lakshwadeep
+1 to them (looks like dinoflagellates) producing oxygen bubbles.
ribbie
I get those all over my rocks. I use a baster to blow them away.

Thank you all very much - I just wanted to make sure it wasn't go to be a problem.

I get those occasionally trapped under cyano....just blow them off with a baster. Or touch them. They float to the top and go bye bye.

I feel cool for saying "go bye bye"

Looks like Dinos to me look at that brown slime on your sandbed.

More intense and random flow in your tank could help once you clean out this outbreak.

LMAO!
Dinoflagellates, nasty crappy bacteria that looks like bubbly brown/red snot.

Do some google work and find out more about it and what to do. There is a lot of options to get rid of it, some work some dont depending on the tank.

I have a bit of it right now, still trying to kick its butt.
Mr. Fosi
Dinoflagellates are not bacteria.

sorry "unicellular protists"
it's easy for me to mix up all these algae and bacteria and other tank nasties.

Also you should have made the "not" bigger for emphasis, it's a better slap in the face for being incorrect.
