Now i know evil has said that 12 LED's isnt enough for a normal 10G but is it okay to use 12 LED's with a 40* lense for a 10G tank is 17x11x17? i would like to keep SPS in the tank and have it lit up enough if not 12 LEDs then how many should i use?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Yeah, that can work, but there is no need for optics that tight. You may not even need optics at all. You can still have sps on the top portions of the tank, with everything else below it.

thanks evil looks like i will be purchasing the stuff for a 12 LED retrofit next week and i might get optics just to make sure i get more light in the tank. i guess i will go with 60* optics then just so im not wasting any light

If you are going to get optics, get 80's. 60's will be overkill on a tank this high. The 80's will bump the output and keep the light a little more focused into the tank, if that's what you are looking for.
