hi i'm new to this forum and the hobby i just setup my bio cube (29 gallons) its not fully cycled but i have about 24 lbs of live rock and 3 Nassarius snails 1 turbo (and also is my turbo dead its been in its shell and today when i came back home it was half out and the Nassarius were moving it around and trying to get into its shell)

anyways

what fish would you get if you were just starting a nano reef (this is your opinion)

i was thinking about clowns,wrasses,flame hawk,flame angel.

please dotn give it depends on you answers biggrin.gif

edit: also what are some good easy to take care of corals
FrankenReef
Well it does depend on you tongue.gif cuz everybody's a little different on what they like.

But if it were up to me I would have to get a tailspot blenny. Blennies of this genus are so comical. I am getting one as soon as I can find one locally.

Have you read lgreen's "ultimate fish guide" in the beginners forum?

The best thing to do is pick the fish you like the most. Study up on them by reading and then decide. In the end you're the one that has to provide for them. Get something you like, want to keep, and are able to care for.

go to liveaquaria.com and look at what they offer (don't follow just their requirements).

Ocellaris and percula clowns are good choices.
"Wrasses" is a broad term that describes hundreds of species, most of which grow to big for nano tanks.
A flame hawkfish is a little out of place with the other fish; they may eat other things in the tank.
Flame angels are okay, though they are not small fish. They are herbivores and are semi-reef safe, depending on the individual.

try firefish, royal gramma, cardinal fish, gobies.., hawk fish, jawfish, blennys, clowns ofcourse but beware of Saddlebacks, Maroons,Clarkii, and Tomato they are the most aggressive, mandarins are really cool if you set up a copepod farm or train them to eat other stuff(my Starry Dragonette/Red Scooter Blenny(2 years old now) eats chopped silver sides, mysis, brine, and now trying to get him to eat pellets that fall to the sand) Fish prolly need the most research, the biggest reason, IME, being that if you put something in there that you dont like or doesn't work out with other fish or corals you will likely have to take all the rock out to get the fish out wink.gif

I had a six-line: can be aggressive toward super doscile fish, and eats crabs, but is really entertaining. Other wrasses, cannot say, but to say that some are defintiely NOT reef safe and that alotta people have flashers and fairy wrasses in their reefs. check out aquacon.com for the reef safe/non reef safe categories
