Need some input. I have set up a 14 gallon nano for 2 female seahorses (only, except clean up crew).

I have a choice-- two h. erectus which are known to be very hardy, but can be 5-6" (or more) or two h. fuscus, which are 3-4" but not necessarily with the hardy reputation of erectus (although not necessarily known as fragile or anything- any more than any other SH specie per se).

Given the small set up I'm sort of inclined to go with the fuscus. However, I know erectus do can okay in a smaller environment as well. The price difference is significant (fuscus more $$), but I'm trying not to let that be a factor.

I'm not really particular about the color or look of the SH-- we are just very excited to be having them soon (about 4 weeks when our new nano is done cylcing).

Thoughts??

P.S. All are captive-bred and tank raised, and eating frozen mysis (but love the treat of live, of course!).

i think h. fucus is a bit cooler looking. Erectus, although naturally a bit hardier. Is a cooler water species. I think you would benefit more with fucus.

make sure you have an abundant amount of small live foods for them, they are almost always hunting and tend to starve/ not eat.

I ordered the h. fuscus! Should be here in about 4 weeks (I'm waiting for the tank to finish cycling). They are CB, TR and eating frozen mysis now. But I will offer a variety as I have a LFS specializing in marine about a mile from my house. I know- lucky!!

Erectus would have been too big for that tank.
