I currently have a 2X T-5 HO fixture on my 20H. The bulbs are almost 2 years old and ready to be replaced. Instead of just replacing them I've been thinking of getting another 2X T-5 HO unit and puting them side by side.

What should I expect? Will I see tons of new growth or just a lot of new algae? Is it worth it?

BTW I have a FULL tank of softies, and they do grow pretty well, but not like they did when the bulbs were new.

Anyone? Would it be worth it to add more light?

More growth... make sure you acclimate them to the light. Going from 2 2-year-old bulbs to 4 new ones is a pretty big jump.

And by softies, make sure you have lower light softies lower int he tank and higher light ones higher. A bunch of mushrooms on top of the highest rock may not like all that light, for example.

To ease the acclimation, leave the old bulbs in for a week or two while your tank adjusts to the extra fixture, then change one of them, wait another week, and then change the last bulb.
