Yes, Greek.
I have the LR but that is about it. It is cooking right now. I thought I might go bare bottom (opened myself up on that one).
PC quad 96wt, hang on back with skimmer. Nothing fancy. Have to use all spare stuff since cash is tight.

Updates?

None yet. Been enjoying the holiday week with kinfolk. About to place the rock in and get the filter system going. Am thinking of going with a local species tank, but collecting with the cold here might be a pain.
Only thing that would not be from the Gulf (Destin,FL) would be the LR. It is Fiji.
All beer cans, broken glass, plastic bags, etc. would be collected from their natural habitat along the shore lines (grass beds).

Go to the jetties. The selection is better. Don't be a wuss, it's not that cold yet, or wear a wetsuit. The water was crystal clear when I went over the bridge yesterday. biggrin.gif
Glad to see another Panhandler!

Will do pic tonight or when I get home. Sorry about being late again. I am a procrastinator by nature. Still have not gotten my lighting together yet.
Still am excited about the contest, though to be honest, don't think I have a chance in 7734. Rock is not even cycled yet, but all fun just the same. lol.

Will be out there this weekend or next. I am a wuss when it comes to the cold though. Hopefully this freeze will pass fairly quick. Think it is supposed to drop down to 40F tonight. No sandals and t-shirt in the morning, that is for sure.

Saw the first life in the tank tonight. Some small snails and a couple of tiny white star fish on the glass. Too small to get pictures of though.
Think the star fish will do OK? They must have been hidden in the live rock. Do I need to feed them? I am going bare bottom in this tank so they will not have a sand bed to dig in.

The algae in the picture was purple when I got it but it turned green. I do not have any lights on the tank yet. Hopefully once i get lighting it will turn purple again. Looks really nice when it was.
Chaostheory
Do they look like brittle stars? I have tons of them in my 55. They're just part of the clean up crew.

The tiny brittle stars don't need sand, just rocks.

No. These have short wide arms. One of the arms looks like it is shorter than the other 4. At least it looks like that on the couple I saw.
So far 18# LR and used Emperor 400. LR at $4 pound is $72. Filter I got for about $40 some years ago, I do not remember where, I think it was a local retailer like Petsmart/land in Fort Walton. Does not have the bio-wheels or the tubes that shot water into the bio-wheels anymore. I am going to probably use it as a refugium and it is holding the 50wt heater. Will more than likely be total water movement as I do not want to clutter the display.

I think that there are some tiny starfish that are considered pests that have short fat legs, let me get a picture

Perhaps Asterina Starfish? I've a couple in my tank as well,
so far I've not seen them doing any damage...but if they do, they'll have to leave....
pismo_reefer

OMG! That is what these are. I will probably pull them out if they are known to possibly harm corals. I had heard that before but not thought about it. Thanks for the info thread.

Thanks. Cost a pretty penny. I thought the coralline would have died off when I was cycling it in the dark, well, there was room light on it, but nothing of any intensity. From what I have heard, coralline grows pretty good in low light. Maybe this is why it is still doing good?
It is cycled but it was cycled hen i got it pretty much so that may account for it.

Thanks. Might just do that.
I am going the tank slow as the weather has become nasty. I don't know how it is going to work out, but I want to collect substrate from the local grass beds and go from there. Have a location picked out, now just to get the bells to wade out into the freezing water.
Was hoping this weekend, but weather is supposed to turn really nasty.
Was thinking of maybe a sea horse/gorgonian tank since captive bred are so readily available now.
Who knows?
