hello everyone! its been a while but i am back. i have a 12g aquapod for a few years now. i had to break it down for about a year but now its back up and running for about 4 months. its been going- i would say ok. having trouble getting cor. algae again. but thats not my problem. i have a 55g cichlid tank now as well. i plan on breaking the cichlid tank down and create a salt water tank. i am curious about what filter to get. i eventually would want the option to make this a reef tank but am going to hold of for a few for that. i have heard to def go with a wet/dry. what do you guys think? and what brand and price and where if you don't mind. any suggestions would help me and thank you for all of your help!! ps. please no abbreviations i'm a little slow with all of them on some of the threads lol cool.gif

Wet/dry filters are nitrate factories. It may not hurt most fish in a freshwater tank, but most acceptable nitrate levels for freshwater aquariums are unsuitable in saltwater aquariums, due to issues with algae and other invasive pests, and due to the sensitivity of many of the creatures that are commonly kept.

Drill it and run a sump/fuge underneath the tank.
Or buy a good hang on back filter and just run filter floss and your preference on carbon/GFO

Another option is just use a hang on back overflow and run a sump/fuge
You can put your carbon/GFO/skimmer in the sump with some filterfloss or filter sock.

If you must get a filter, get the aquaclear 110. You can mod it to become a fuge later if you wish to.
