my api and quick strips testing were giving me false readings but I knew something wasnt right so I went out and got the 2 test I could afford till friday KH and Mag I wanted to also get cal and ph but these kits are spendy. anyway I recently plumbed my sump and somehow things are out of whack 2 oregon tort sps and 1 neon green acro pullede their polps in and faded to white in 8 hours and montis are turning white my kh its at 15 and mag is around 1050 from these can I almost guess my ph is too high? got a water change going right now but I use crystal sea marine mix and it takes 24hrs what else should I be looking at

what test kit did you get? im surprised you kept SPS without a testkit before. you should of gotten alk and cal as they are more important.

the only 2 test kit i trust for Mg test is salifert or elos. any other brands are either highly inaccurate or just a pain in the ass to use.

without the full parameters of your tank its hard to tell what happened. but chances are when you plumbed the sump into the system, you probably didnt give everything a good cleaning and something leached into the tank. what else did you add into your sump? deep sand bed? more live rock? chaeto?
