Hello All,

I am ready to change the carbon now and was wondering what the best practice was forutilizing the rear compartment of my JBJ28.

Should I lose the basket completely and put a fuge in the middle? If so, what medium should I use between carbon, chemi-pure, and purigen? One of these? A combination? None, something else?

Which chamber should I put the filter media in - the middle still with a fuge below? Filter floss (walmart non-flame retardant) is what I've seen told to use, but I'm curious about the other filter media.

Any help is appreciated.

Currently have a stock JBJ28 CF with:

25 pounds of live rock
40 pounds of live sand
Cycling for 7 weeks now
2 B&W Ocellaris
Peppermint Shrimp
6 Nassarius Snails
12 Hermits
2 Zooanthids
Bio-Reef
Well, I have all these things in my first chamber for my biocube 14. Works great!

Thanks Bio-Reef,

Just so I'm clear - you have separate bags of charcoal, chemi-pure elite, and purigen in your filter area?
