Hey guys so my rocks been in my tank for about 20hours now.. I'm still scared I don't have the salinity perfect, I'm using a plastic coralife deep six hydrometer.. I let it sit with saltwater for 24hours but when I read on my tank it still seems like right below the line that you should be at.. I used a 50gall bag of tropic marin in it bc last night it was reading so high that i took some out.. Now i'm scared its to low.. Any ideas/tips? Please and thank you...

what does it read

well I think I got it to settle now, it's reading about 1/4th into the middle of the "Ok" range..

Thanks anyway guys..

I suggest getting a different hydrometer (or refractometer). The deep six refractometers have had multiple issues. The instant ocean hydrometer is one such option, but a general advice is that all hydrometers and refractometers have to be calibrated before you can trust their readings.

moto was asking about the actual number; no one knows what "OK range" means. Also, hydrometers measure specific gravity, which should be some number like 1.0## (e.g. 1.025).

Hydrometers can be accurate. Unfortunately something as simple as a tiny little bubble can throw the reading off.

I'll second the refractometer suggestion. Also if you get a refractometer make sure to also pick up some calibration fluid and calibrate it every once in a while. I calibrate mine every time I make water or use it.
