so i just got a pistol goby pair yesterday and i put the pistol in there and then the fish, well as i was getting the fish in there i knocked over one of my rocks. So my 2 questions could i have barried him alive? should i be able to hear any clicking noises?
I still don't think they have found one another yet. As i have not seen the pistol since.
Should i pull up the rock to make sure he is alive?

pistols naturally dig so i wouldnt worry about it
they dont always pop and even if you tear your tank up you might not find him so id just leave it, theyre pretty tough

were they a pair originally, or is this a shrimp and goby you purchased separately?

They will find each other, no worries. If they were already paired then they are compatible.

they'll find each other i wouldn't worry about it. watch out once they do it going to be a digging party in your tank

they are cool, make sure you have some rock rubble and empty shells for the pistol. i didn't at first and my pistol was always taking my acan frags to help prop up his tunnels. for what its worth i've had my pistol for months and have never heard him poppping once. i usually shoot some food in his hole when i'm feeding the rest of the tank so that probably why i never hear him. they really are a cool addition to the aquarium though.

Don't you just hate when they sneak around like that? But once you get a glimpse at them is all worth the seconds.
