Hello there all,

Some of you know me, some not... I have been in the reefing hobby for over 17 years. Did the larges, then some smalls. Heading into the even smaller now.. wink.gif Having a good time.

Just going to toss up some images here for show and a diary of the build as it goes along.

Tank - JBJ picotope - free
Filter - PF-10 whisper - free
Water - free from another 2.5 year old nano of mine
Rock - free from that same tank
Heater - stealth 50 - free
Lighting - Coralife 150w MH HQI De - Radium 20k and 2 geissman T5HO 24w pure actinic and actinic + - wedding present from a friend.

Total tank wattage without light is like 15 watts.. With the light well.. wink.gif Everything is hooked up to a UPS 1500 rs/xs with the extra battery.

Fish - Green Banded Goby and Tail Spot Blenny ( best friends )

Parameters are all perfect

Nitrates - 0
Nitrites - 0
Ammonia - 0
Silicates - 0
Phosphates - 0
Calcium - 450
Magnesium 1385

I dose .7ml of aquavitro eight.four and .3ml of Brightwell Liquid Reef each morning. I use Seachem Reef Salt and do a 1Gallon WC a week religiously on Saturday. I feed the fish 2 times a week pellets ( spectrum ) and add .2 of a drop of ZooMax once a week.

I will get better photos when the lights come on. That is a Transparent Branching hammer coral that comes from a mother colony that is over 20 years old. The flow in the tank is 180 gallons per hour / 3gallon tank = 60x if you don't want to include the extra pump then the tank does 30xper hour

Enjoy some shots:

Thanks for looking... Comments are welcome..

i love it. is the light suspended? i really like the hammer. i have some in mine that is growing like crazy. can't wait to see more pics.

Thanks for the positive replies.. everyone loves that.. going to be a great tank when I am done.. The light is suspended using a coralife hanging kit. it is exactly 20 inches from the bulb to the bottom of the tank. Great light fixture did the retro from actinics to T5HO from 1000Bulbs.com very cheap.. cost me like 20.00 or something for parts.. Could not be happier with it.. Will update with more photos once I get more corals transferred over.

I have some new corals in the tank now. Just wanted to throw up some photos of those items. I have decided as well to start dosing Brightwell Aquatics Magnesion, and ReefCode A and B. I have stopped all other treatments. I noticed that the branching hammer coral fleshy area was starting to recede, so I tested everything in the tank and even had the LFS ( a friend of mine ) test as well. Everything was spot on. The only test I had not done to that point was magnesium. I tested it and it the level was 800. WOW I was like HOW THE HELL! I had been doing 1 gallon water changes regularly. I have been using seachem reef salt! I have been dosing liquid reef from brightwell aquatics.. Anyhow.. Started with this new regime and everything is back in business and in perfect balance!

Enjoy the shots!

Looks great!

Wow! Really cool. Doesn't the sea cucumber need substrate? I didn't know that a blenny could be kept in a pico.

those fish pics were from "his other nano"

Nice pico!

and that is a filter feeding cucumber.

The fish actually are in the pico and very happy. The tail spot eats algae and the goby eats pellets and whatever drops when I feed the corals once a week. I just started feeding krill to the corals as it has the best fat, protein percentages of anything frozen out there that I have found. The yellow sea cucumber is a filter feeder. He just sits on the branch of the hammer coral collecting whatever he can wink.gif Thanks for the nice words everyone. Full Tank Shots on the way. Just want to wait till I get my clam in there.. a little 2 inch ultra grade crocea clam from clams direct. Whenever they decide to open again! :/

None of those photos are PS'd other then to crop them down to size. Just want people to know what you are seeing is actually the colors of those items.

More to come.. thanks for looking!

PS changed out the MaxiJet 900 for a koralia NANO at 230GPH dispersed better then the mj900 which is more directed. The flow in the tank is about 320 GPH, which is really nice for the sps corals at the top of the rocks! Everything seems to enjoy the flow of the nano koralia. I suggest it to everyone that has a pico for extra flow.

The tank is totally awesome. I am sorry I have not posted anything and it is so funny you replied to this today and I just happen to be up talking to picoaquariums.com. Tomorrow we are going to discuss a custom tank design that I have been toying with for the last year. I am going to finally have someone build it for me if the price is within what I deem reasonable.

The new tank will be going on a table I just finished building specifically for this new tank.

I will post some new photos when I get a chance. Thanks for replying by the way. It just slipped my mind to repost on this thread once RL got in the way.

Sounds cool mynd. You have some cool fishes in that tank. Really like the tank setup and just was wondering how it looks. Also, was wondering how the yellow sea cucumber is doing and how large has it gotten.
.Newman.
while i dont agree with the blenny, i am wondering how big the green banded goby is getting? can you please give us a rough estimate of its length? thanks.

200 W or so over a three gallon tank? That must be some kind of record! THought I was crazy with 12 W LED over a 1G tank was a lot (although not strictly comparable numbers, I know).

Great looking stuff. Looking forward to seeing those great corals grow in.

Hello Everyone!,

Looking to really start posting again. The new tank design is almost done. I just have some hosing to figure out. The new tank will have the old stuff in it. I am going to post an image of the back of the tank so that you can all get some idea of the work that has gone into this. Lots of math involved here folks, so if you don't think you will ever need math in your life, let me just say that life is math... lol

The gobies are doing fine and have not grown at all. Still healthy bellies and staying the same. They are at most 2 - 3" long. The Sea Apple, has not gotten any larger, but keeps splitting, there are now 12 of them in the tank. LOL..

More photos to come on the new tank as it is almost completed.

pj86
Welcome back. Interesting and cool looking setup. Pretty cool that the cucumber has split so many times, I'm trying to make mine do the same thing. Can't wait for some updated pics.
.Newman.
wtf, your cucumber actually splits lol? very few holothuroids I've heard of can reproduce by fragmentation. that way is left to the starfish echinos lol.
