I know I've been AWOL for a while - been busy with family, mostly the kids and their sports.

I have also been getting into the photgraphy thing a lot more - really working on portraits... here's some pics from a recent shoot.

What do you think? Any feedback or constructive critisism would be appreciated... I know there are some talented photographers in here.

Rehype
I like them. The lighting and exposure are dead on. My only critique would be they are a tad soft. That could just be me. But i think a little sharpening would make them perfect. Other than that great Shots! You have a gorgeous model.

Thanks man...

I'll deffinately run through and sharpen them to see what I get. The young lady I shot with had some modeling experience and made it easy on me.

something seems off about the lighting to me...almost like its not diffused sufficiently

Pickles!!! Great work. smile.gif
The only real problem I see is with the exposures. Using flash for a fill light is tricky as you want both the background and foreground properly exposed. There seems to be overexposed areas in each of the shots.. could be fixed with some pp work, though.
pismo_reefer
those pics are amazingly clear....

Thanks!

I went through and sharpened the pics last night - it really made them pop. I think I need to calibrate my monitor because at home I wasn't seeing the same things that I'm seeing here at work.

rbrusletto
Yeah, gotta keep up w/ Monitor calibration, and if possible, view the pictures on multiple different monitors/displays.. Sorta the same things as audio production, where you want to listen to a track on multiple different speakers(even a boombox is a good idea) before cutting the production release.

I played with a Lomo action I found... I think it's pretty cool and deffinately has some possibilities...

Lalani
That is an awesome shot. Love it.
The pose, the one eye hidden, the compo.. all are terrific! Awesome shirt too. biggrin.gif

Lalani
That's the lomo!

Thanks... it was crazy hair day at school and he was being shy. When I first took the picture - I liked it but wished it had more pop - started reading about lomo photography and then cheated... I found a lomo action for PS.

Started playing with Lightroom - it's pretty cool...

first one does it. second one not so much. lighting is too harsh. missed focus too maybe?

Yeah... lighing was my issue - wanted to try a couple of shots against that pattern and the room was very small - unfortuantely I don't have the best flash / lighting and it's hard to get it right. Since she wanted some of that "glow" factor in her pics - she actually said it that way.. "make me glow" - I left it a little more harsh.
Pickle010
This one is in the same room - but I stepped down the exposure a little.
