How would you frag zoa's that are on a large piece of LR that you can't remove from your tank?
NANOYED
get a knife in the tank slice through the "roots" not the polyp then try to cut into the rock just under the polyps. not that easy, but can be done. Or you can just glue a piece of lr rubble or frag plug to the rock and let the polyps grow onto them.
Eole00
scrape them off with a chistle or sharp knife, trying to get some rock with the zoas. if you pop any, just run some cabron.

nanoyed beat me to it...

Cool thanks. I was wondering what would happen if one were to pop.
FrankenReef
If you can remove the rock from the tank it is super easy to frag with a diamond blade equipped dremel tool.

+1....absolute best way to do it. Chisel is unpredictable and cutting the roots can be risky without a steady hand. Get an exacto hobby knife, dremel under or to the side of the zoas until you can wedge a small blad screwdriver in there. Twist lightly until the chip of rock breaks; then cut between the flesh of the polyps to separate the frag.

i run into this all the time.
i simply use some very fine tipped scissors (the ones i have are for hair cutting) and then i quickly siphon up the loose polyp with a baster... hope that works for you as well as it does for me... biggrin.gif

Interesting idea. I may have to try this. Thanks.

Or you can try clippers from the manicure section at your local target or drug store. They shears they have there look just like the "professional" ones that coral shops sell and cut right through rock, they last forever too!

Here's a pic for you smile.gif
