Full Version: Is it odd that a hermit is "hosting" my acan?

So theres a small area of a few dead heads/exposed skeleton on an acan I saved from an LFS's tank, all browned out. Lately a hermit loves hanging out in there, amongst the other heads that are doing well. Ive picked him off and placed him in other areas, but he finds his way back. The acan does not seem to mind, all heads are fully inflated. Is there some sort of food or detrius he may be going after? I wish I could get a pic, tried, but its hard to pick him out.

Hermit crabs suck!

I had one that would climb the top of the tank and into a hole... So it would be looking at pitch darkness. It would get so tight, it would take me a couple minutes to pull it out. I would put it on the other side of the tank and it would get stuck in the hole again within 2 minutes. Over and over again... I left it in there for a whole week, took it out, and it still went back. Then it climbed into the back chamber of my biocube and survived for 3 weeks until I found it. So sometimes they just do weird things...

Haha yeah I love seeing the little quirks that develop depending on whats in the tank. I wasnt gonna kill him or anything, worst case I wouldve moved him to my other tank.

Hermits only suck in a reef tank. They are freakin' cool if there is nothing important or expensive they can destroy.

Hermits are weird little goobers, if he isn't messin' with anybody enjoy the show. dancingnaughty.gif

If he is hanging out in a "browned out" area of your coral he could be picking away the dying/dead flesh?
