Does anyone make a retrofit kit or something along those lines for the jbj 3 gallon picotope? My wife recently say Melev's reef 2 gallon pico reef and saw that he was keeping a seahorse in it along with some maxima clams. She wants to do something similar. It could be just me, but I thought you would need a bigger tank for a seahorse even if it is a dwarf species.

I have seen seahorses kept in rather small tanks and remain happy. The LFS actually had a dwarf seahorse in one of those 1 gallon red sea cubes with a hang on filter and cheesy light. It was up and running for about 2 years then they sold the seahorse out of it.... but he always seemed to be just fine. Ate well and looked healty and happy...

Is that light my only option?

No, it's not the only option. Nanocustoms also has a retro kit that fits in the JBJ lamp, but I haven't seen it on the website in a while. Drop Chris and Nick a line at info@nanotuners.com to see if they still have it.
