My pico has been up and running strong for about three weeks now. I figure if my water tests continue to show good results and are stable for the next few weeks I can start getting into some corals. The two that really caught my eye were the Blue Mushroom and the Orange Ricordea Yuma, I am going to get three polyps of each. They are both suggested to be fed once a week with "marine snow". What is the best possible food I can purchase for them? What is the prefered methed of handling them and acclimating them to my aquarium? What is the best procedure for feeding, I assume a turkey baster of some sort? Thanks againg Keith

Personally I've never feed my shrooms and within 2 months I went from 1 to 4. Ricordea Yuma feed using the process of photosynthesis. They are also able to filter feed. Ricordea Yuma can trap small food and the disk can retract to push the food to the mouth. In a tank that small, the less nutrients you put into it the better. If you want to feed them I'd suggest target feeding.

i wouldnt feed them, especially not with marine snow. they both use photosynthesis and dont need additional foods. adding food (especially just general additives like marine snow) adds nutrients to a pico that arent desired. however i do feed my yuma pieces of freeze dried krill every once in a while just for fun. the krill is good because i also use it for my lps which will be convenient when you move on to those ( and i bet you will). to feed that i use a little pipette and just squirt it right into the coral.

Eh, I feed mine. They don't technically need to be fed. I have noticed more reproduction since I started feeding. I don't have a pico, I have a CUC built for bear and I am obsessive about my PWC as well though.

They seem to open up more for the microvore than the marine snow.
