Hey all. I want a goby/shrimp pair in my room and I would like to know which shrimp and which goby have the best chance of pairing up.

How big is the tank and what are the other fish/livestock?
There are multiple pistol shrimp and goby pairs that are possible. However, there are some guidelines to pairing:
1. Not all pistol shrimp pair with gobies. Also, some gobies with names like "flaming prawn goby" are not shrimp gobies.
2. It's best (and easiest) to buy a paired goby and shrimp, even if this would be more expensive than buying them separately. You can't force a goby and shrimp to pair up immediately.
Gobies from the genus Stonogobiops will pair with Alpheus randalli.

I will have a 14G tank and I plan on having a clown, multiple zoas, a frog or hammer, and a kenya tree or leather.
